Reading Institute

Join KMWP and your fellow educators for KMWP’s first ever Reading Institute!  In this week-long institute, we will explore:

  • Who we are as readers
  • What reading looks like in our classrooms now
  • Whole class versus choice reading
  • Structuring whole-class reading conferences
  • Strategies for supporting students in reading non-fiction texts
  • Developing an assignment to take back to our classrooms in the fall

All registered participants will receive a copy of Disruptive Thinking by Kylene Beers and Robert Probst. This book, along with Penny Kittle’s Book Love and some research-based articles, will frame the work we do and discussions we have.

The workshop will be participant-driven and participant-centered. It will offer a constructive space for teacher leaders to come together and talk about, grapple with, and further develop practice.
